The is the olympic canter with the ski jumps etc whcih you can check out. I think the best thin about the area is the hiking if you have got the time. Go to Keene Valley about a half hour from Lake Placid and climb Noonmark Mtn. It is about 3-4 hour round trip hike (moderate level), but the views on the top are spectacular.
